The Master’s Degree in Gender Studies offers rigorous, interdisciplinary academic training aimed at understanding and transforming gender inequalities in diverse social, economic, cultural, and political contexts. Through a critical and comparative approach, the program promotes the analysis of power relations, identity, and diversity, addressing topics such as human rights, gender equity, social inclusion, and public policies with a gender perspective.

Students in this master’s program can choose, as their degree option, to write an academic article, a public policy document, or undertake a consulting or social innovation project.

It lasts approximately two years and is taught in person at Universidad de los Andes, with opportunities for reflection and applied research.

Dual-degree programs:
Depending on the case, you may pursue 2 master’s degrees by completing between 45–48 credits in total instead of 74 credits (the total if pursued separately), approximately 40% fewer credits, resulting in a lower investment and a lighter academic workload, to obtain 2 master’s degrees.
Some of the programs most closely related for pursuing these dual degrees are the Master’s Degree in Peacebuilding, the Master’s Degree in Gender Studies, the Master’s Degree in Interdisciplinary Development Studies, the Master’s Degree in International Law, and the Master’s Degree in Education.
Credit transfer:
Male and female students of Specialization and Master’s programs may transfer credits taken in any of the programs at Cider or in another program outside the University, provided that they meet the requirements of the University’s Credit Transfer and Validation Regulations.
The credit transfer request must be formally submitted here. for review and approval by Cider’s Academic Coordination.
Microcredentials and transferable Continuing Education courses:
If for any reason you are unable to enter this program directly, you can enroll in one of the Microcredentials and/or transferable courses* offered by Cider through the University’s Directorate of Continuing Education. Once you complete and pass the Microcredential or course, you may request the transfer of academic credits from the Academic Coordination of Cider. According to Decree 1067 of May 26, 2015, and Resolution 714 of June 12, 2015, issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, foreign students who are going to study in Colombia must have a Student Visa or another type of visa that allows them to study. This visa must be presented to the Admissions and Registration Office, Window 4, or sent to extranjerosuniandes@uniandes.edu.co with a copy to cidergestor2@uniandes.edu.co, in order to comply with this legal requirement. It is important to complete this procedure before printing your tuition payment receipt. Additionally, current Colombian law requires foreign nationals over and under 18 years of age who hold a visa valid for more than 3 months to carry a foreigner’s identity card as an identification document. Therefore, it is also necessary to obtain this document, which may be submitted together with your visa.
